About Me
My Background
I have lived in Burnet County for over 18 years with my husband, Woody. We are proud parents of our son, Brice, a 2021 graduate of BCISD where he attended Kindergarten through 12th grade.
I am passionate about our community and those who reside here. My commitment is to serve where I am needed to help our community remain the best place to live, work, and learn. I am very involved in the Bertram community, serving as an officer with the Bertram Chamber of Commerce, Bertram Economic Development Corp, and on numerous festivals and Chamber committees.
I’ve served on several BCISD committees and organizations including: BCISD Board of Trustees, BCISD Strategic Planning Steering Committee, BCISD 2021 Bond Oversight Committee, BCISD District Advisory Committee, and Bertram Elementary Site Based Decision Committee. I’ve also served on the Board to help lead the BHS Burnet Esprit De Corps Boosters, Project Graduation, Bertram Elementary PTO, and other support organizations.
I was chosen by the BCISD’s School Board in November 2023 as the most qualified candidate to represent the community with integrity and pride. Since chosen, the top priority in the near term for the BCISD school board is to help identify and hire the best candidate for Superintendent of Schools. This candidate should fit well with our community in terms of values; possess the education, qualifications, and background to serve us well; and possess the ability, desire, and tenacity to serve tirelessly for the district and its students.
My focus is at the center of our district’s future: academic excellence, thoughtful growth to anticipate new schools and programs, and retaining top-notch educators. We’re navigating changing demographics, ensuring every student's needs are met, and maintaining fiscal responsibility despite inadequate state support. It's crucial to foster student behavior that reflects our community's values, in an era where parental involvement is crucial yet challenging.
Above all, I'm committed to ensuring a safe learning environment for all students of BCISD. My dedication extends to significant board initiatives like the selection of a Superintendent to uphold our values and drive our district forward. I advocate for programs that not only distinguish BCISD but also prepare our youth for responsible citizenship. My goal is to amplify Bertram's voice within the board, ensuring the voice of our community’s aspirations for the students at BCISD are heard.
